If you need to change the resolution, sequence settings or dimensions of a video project you have already started in Premiere Pro, you're in the right place!

Watch the video tutorial below:
This step-by-step tutorial will use the example of adjusting a video to fit the size or resolution of an Instagram story, Instagram reel, Tiktok or YouTube shorts video (9:16 - vertical).
Step 1: Begin by opening Adobe Premiere Pro and loading up your existing project.
Step 2: Navigate to the sequence menu and choose 'sequence settings'.

Step 3: With sequence settings open, turn your attention to the 'video' section. This is where you will change the resolution of your project.

Step 4: Change the horizontal and vertical values for the frame size. For a portrait video, use 1080x1920.

Step 5: Click OK on the sequence settings window.

Step 6: This window will appear, click OK.

Step 7: Click the 'Effect Controls' tab to adjust the position of your clips. This will enable you to make the area you want to focus on fit within the new 1080x1920 resolution of your project.

Step 8: With your footage re-aligned to the new resolution, you can go ahead and export your video.
